Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital offers students opportunities to learn about the roles and functions of child life specialists. Our Child Life Internship Program enables students to observe and perform a variety of child life services, all under the supervision of Certified Child Life Specialists.

To those purposes, the program affords students with the opportunity to experience a variety of patient and family issues, to take advantage of regular educational sessions and to engage in ongoing discussion of the student experience.

Submitting a completed application does not guarantee an interview or acceptance. Each application will be reviewed to determine if the applicant meets the requirements. The most qualified applicants will be offered interviews. All interviews are conducted virtually. Selected students will be required to work the schedule of their supervisors.

Internship

We offer internships on a rotating schedule. We currently host FALL and SPRING internships during odd years and SUMMER internships during even years. We use the Association of Child Life Professionals (ALCP) Internship Readiness Common Application and offer dates provided by the ALCP, which can be found here. There, you will also find instructions detailing how to complete the application.

Download the internship information document for more details on a child life internship with the Child Life and Expressive Therapies Department at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital. Please follow all the instructions in this document to ensure your application is complete. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. For emailed questions we receive that are NOT answered within the website, the internship information document or the automated email response, we will respond to your inquiry at the email listed below.
