Vincent Martinez is a Filipino American therapist with six years of orthopedic experience at a rural community hospital, a large metropolitan orthopedic group, and a nationally ranked children's hospital. External influencers of his upper extremity practice include a surgeon formerly with the Indianapolis Colts, a chief of hand trauma with tours in Afghanistan and Iraq, and a pack of plastic surgeons at Texas Children's Hospital.
Intrinsic influences include acting on one’s values, building trust, and nurturing a growth mindset - an umbrella of concepts owing to 10 years at the DOD in corporate communications. His approach to his role of hand fellowship coordinator is servant leadership that empowers the success of others starting with the hand fellow(s), who are the leaders of tomorrow; growing the tribe of mentors, faculty, and the “board of trustees” of the hand fellowship for accountability, excellence, and longevity; and keeping one foot firmly planted in the mindful reality of today while a visionary eye on the North Star of where this world class hand fellowship team is headed. For the decade he spent in Japan, three children he learns from every day, and a partner that helps him row the boat sometimes straight up waterfalls, he is grateful.
