Today is World Stroke Day, an important time to remind ourselves what the warning signs and symptoms of a stroke look like. Along with others around the world, Memorial Hermann is raising awareness of stroke, its symptoms and supporting stroke survivors. Up to 80% of strokes may be prevented.

Dr. Haris Kamal, vascular neurologist and neuro-interventional surgeon with Memorial Hermann Mischer Neuroscience Associates, spoke on camera regarding everything viewers need to know about stroke.

According to the American Stroke Association, strokes can happen to anyone, at any age. In fact, globally about one in four adults over the age of 25 will have a stroke in their lifetime. Yet, most adults in the U.S. don’t know the F.A.S.T. warning signs of a stroke, and that stroke is largely treatable if you call 911 as soon as you recognize the symptoms. Help reduce your and your loved ones’ stroke risk today.
